There is a difference between watching the FIFA World Cup and feeling the FIFA World Cup.

I understood that after spending time around Vancouver, chasing the atmosphere, the crowds, and those little moments that never show up on television.

Continuing from where I left off in my previous blog, I’ve been trying to make the most of this FIFA World Cup experience by roaming around Vancouver, watching games on big screens, and soaking in the excitement among fans.

Because the game is only one part of the experience.

The real fun is the energy around it — strangers celebrating together, different nationalities coming together, and that moment when an entire room reacts to a goal.

So after exploring a few places around Vancouver, I thought I’d share the best FIFA World Cup watch parties I’ve found so far — based on the vibe, atmosphere, and what makes each place worth visiting.

Let’s get into it.

1. FIFA Fan Festival at PNE – The Biggest World Cup Experience in Vancouver

📍 PNE / Hastings Park
🚆 Easy access by transit (dedicated shuttle from 29th Avenue Station)
🎟️ Ticket required? Free viewing available | Amphitheatre option requires ticket

If you want to experience the FIFA World Cup atmosphere in Vancouver, the PNE Fan Festival is probably the biggest experience.

There are two ways to enjoy it:

Free Viewing Area

The free section is a great option if you mainly want to enjoy the atmosphere without spending money. You get large screens, crowds of fans, flags, celebrations, and the overall FIFA vibe.

The only downside is that seating is not guaranteed, so be prepared to stand for longer periods.

The free areas also have multiple screens showing different matches happening at the same time, which is convenient if you want to watch more than one game.

Amphitheatre Experience

The Amphitheatre option is better if you want a more comfortable viewing experience with a reserved seat and a better setup for watching the match.

If you are going for the full event experience, this is the premium option.

Getting There

Public transit is the easiest way to reach PNE. A dedicated shuttle runs every few minutes from 29th Avenue Station, making it much easier than dealing with parking.

It can also save you around $45 compared to parking at PNE.

Do:

✅ Arrive early for popular matches
✅ Use transit/shuttle if possible
✅ Be ready for crowds and longer standing times

Don’t:

❌ Carry large backpacks
❌ Bring big water bottles or umbrellas
❌ Expect to find a seat in the free viewing area

Overall, the free area is more than enough if you want the crowd energy, while the Amphitheatre is better if comfort is your priority.

2. Game On Watch Party at The Amazing Brentwood – A Relaxed Outdoor FIFA Experience

📍 The Amazing Brentwood – Brentwood, Burnaby
🚆 Easy access by SkyTrain (Brentwood Town Centre Station)
🎟️ Ticket required? No (free outdoor viewing)

If you want a more relaxed FIFA viewing experience away from the downtown crowds, the Game On Watch Party at The Amazing Brentwood is a great option.

The setup is different from a traditional sports bar. Instead of sitting inside, you get an outdoor plaza atmosphere with a big screen, fans gathering together, and plenty of food options nearby.

My recommendation?

Bring your camping chairs and set them up in the plaza early. It makes the experience much more comfortable, especially for longer matches.

One thing to keep in mind — check the schedule before heading there.

Due to city bylaws, they do not show the 9 PM matches, so plan accordingly.

Do:

✅ Check the match schedule before going
✅ Bring camping chairs for a more comfortable setup
✅ Arrive early for popular games
✅ Grab food/drinks from nearby options

Don’t:

❌ Assume every match will be shown
❌ Arrive at the last minute for big games
❌ Forget that outdoor viewing depends on weather

Overall, The Amazing Brentwood is a good choice if you want a casual FIFA night — more like hanging out with the community rather than being packed inside a busy bar.

3. Granville Street – “The City Is Alive” FIFA Experience

📍 Granville Street / Downtown Vancouver
🚆 Easy access by SkyTrain (Granville Station)
🎟️ Ticket required? Depends on the venue (street atmosphere is free)

If you want to experience the FIFA World Cup energy beyond just watching a match, spend some time around Granville Street.

This is where you really feel that the city is hosting something massive.

During big games, the streets come alive with fans wearing jerseys, groups celebrating together, and people from different countries sharing the same excitement.

My recommendation?

Go here for Canada games.

If you are Canadian, there is something special about being surrounded by a sea of red jerseys. Your inner patriotism will wake up whether you planned for it or not. 😂

Even people who normally don’t follow football suddenly become passionate fans, discussing every pass, every decision, and every missed chance.

The best part is that you don’t necessarily need a plan. Walk around, feel the atmosphere, grab food or a drink nearby, and see where the crowd takes you.

Do:

✅ Visit for Canada games if you want the biggest local energy
✅ Walk around before and after matches
✅ Wear your team colors and join the atmosphere

Don’t:

❌ Expect a quiet viewing experience
❌ Arrive thinking you will avoid crowds during big games
❌ Forget that the best FIFA moments often happen outside the screen

Granville Street is not just about watching football.

It’s about watching a city celebrate.

4. Parq Casino Sportsbook Lounge – For the Comfortable FIFA Night

📍 Parq Casino Vancouver – Downtown Vancouver
🚆 Easy access from downtown / Stadium-Chinatown Station
🎟️ Ticket required? No (ID required for entry)
🔞 19+ only

This is probably my personal favorite option if you don’t want to deal with Vancouver’s unpredictable weather — whether it’s a heat wave, heavy rain, or you simply want a more comfortable setup.

The Parq Casino Sportsbook Lounge gives you a more premium FIFA viewing experience with TVs all around, so you don’t have to worry about missing the action while grabbing food or moving around.

The vibe here is different from a fan festival or outdoor viewing. It’s a more upscale setting with music, food, drinks, and the sportsbook atmosphere.

Since it’s open 24/7, it’s also a great option for late matches when other places may be closing.

It’s a great choice if you enjoy sports betting or want to experience that side of tournament excitement.

A few things to remember:

Even if you are 70, you still need your ID. 😂
And leave the kids at home — this is a 19+ venue.

Do:

✅ Bring valid ID
✅ Enjoy the comfortable indoor setup
✅ Check out the sportsbook atmosphere
✅ Consider it for late-night matches

Don’t:

❌ Forget that it’s a 19+ venue
❌ Bring children
❌ Assume you can enter without ID

Overall, Parq is a great choice if you want FIFA with comfort — good food, multiple screens, entertainment, and no need to worry about the weather outside.

5. Surrey Soccer Fan Zones – Pick the Location That Works for You

📍 Multiple locations across Surrey
🚆 Transit and driving options available depending on the venue
🎟️ Ticket required? No – Free entry

If you live in Surrey or don't feel like making the trip to Vancouver, Surrey has done a great job of bringing the FIFA World Cup closer to home.

Instead of one large fan zone, the city has set up multiple locations across Surrey, each operating on select dates throughout the tournament. Just make sure you check the schedule before heading out.

Outdoor Fan Zones:

🌳 Holland Park (July 18–19)
🏙️ Surrey Civic Plaza (June 11–July 15)
⚽ South Surrey Athletic Park (July 14–19)

Indoor Fan Zone:

🏟️ Cloverdale Agriplex (July 1–19)

One thing I like about Surrey's setup is the flexibility. Depending on where you live, you can simply choose the nearest fan zone instead of travelling across Metro Vancouver.

Some locations also feature food vendors, family-friendly activities, and entertainment alongside the big-screen match screenings.

Do:

✅ Check the official schedule before visiting
✅ Choose the location closest to you
✅ Arrive early for Canada and knockout matches

Don’t:

❌ Assume every location is open every day
❌ Expect every fan zone to show every match

If you're looking for a free FIFA World Cup watch party without heading into downtown Vancouver, Surrey's Fan Zones are definitely worth checking out.

Bonus: Grouse Mountain FIFA Watch Party – Where BC Nature Meets Football

📍 Grouse Mountain, North Vancouver
🚆 Accessible by transit + shuttle options (check current details before going)
🎟️ Ticket required? Yes (ticketed experience)

If you want a FIFA experience that feels very Vancouver, this is an interesting option.

Watching a World Cup match surrounded by the mountains is not something you get in many places. Grouse Mountain combines the usual BC experience — nature, views, and fresh air — with the excitement of the tournament.

It’s a great choice if you want to make a full day out of it rather than just watch a game.

Do:

✅ Go for the experience and views
✅ Dress for mountain weather
✅ Check match schedules and ticket availability beforehand

Don’t:

❌ Expect a free watch party
❌ Go unprepared for changing mountain weather

It’s definitely a more premium option, but if you want to combine the FIFA atmosphere with the Vancouver lifestyle, Grouse Mountain is hard to beat.

A Few More Worth Mentioning...

These are my top five, but they're far from the only options. Places like The Shipyards in North Vancouver, local sports bars, breweries, and neighborhood pubs are all embracing the FIFA World Cup.

Just one tip: expect crowds everywhere.

And honestly, that's the fun part.

The cheers, the collective groans, and celebrating goals with complete strangers are what make the FIFA World Cup atmosphere so special.
