This Year, Don't Wait For The Change- Be the Reason It Happens
“No more waiting. Take the first step toward that change you’ve been imagining. Start small, take that first step, and watch the change you’ve been thinking about slowly become real.”

So, I was on a call with my mom, who lives miles away, and I asked her, “How’s the New Year enthusiasm over there?” She shrugged and said, “Same hi aa, koi navi gal nai.” Translation: “It’s the same old thing, nothing new about the New Year.”
At first, I nodded along. A date on the calendar doesn’t magically fix anything, right? Parties end, fireworks fizzle, and that overly ambitious gym streak usually evaporates by January 3rd. But then I had a little revelation — out loud, of course, because apparently my brain doesn’t do quiet reflection — “Sure, it’s just another date on the calendar… but — that’s exactly why it’s powerful. Because for that one day, the past doesn’t have to define you. The mistakes, the delays, the ‘I should have done it yesterday’ — they all get a pause. It’s a checkpoint. A chance to press reset, to start fresh, permit yourself to try again. That ordinary date quietly dares you to leave the old behind and take the first step toward something new.”
And that’s where the real conversation began — about life, about change, about all those little things we’ve been putting off. Because if we can trick our minds into believing in a new start, even for a moment, maybe we can turn that moment into movement.
That first step can be anything. Sending that email you’ve been avoiding. Signing up for that class that makes your stomach do flips. Saying no to something that drains you. Or simply showing up for yourself, even in a tiny, messy, imperfect way. You don’t need a full roadmap — just that first step. That’s where the ripple begins. That’s how change sneaks in before you even notice it.
Of course, fear and excuses will show up. Loud, dramatic, persistent — basically like that one friend who never leaves your couch and eats all your snacks. “I’m not ready.” “What if I fail?” “I don’t have time.” They’re exhausting, but the truth is : they don’t get to decide for you. You do. You just need to start. Messy. Awkward. Unsure. Start anyway. Even tiny, imperfect steps count, even if you feel like crawling.
The magic of momentum? It grows in motion. One small step nudges the next. One tiny choice stacks on another. And before you know it, life starts reshaping itself — quietly, slowly, and often in ways you didn’t expect.
Think of this year as a dare. A dare to yourself. Dare to take that first step, even if it’s tiny. Dare to stumble. Dare to fail. Dare to get back up. Dare to be a little braver than yesterday. Dare to believe that your actions — not your doubts — actually matter. Because they do. They really do.
Change isn’t dramatic. It’s slow, messy, and often awkward — a series of small choices stacked together. Some days, you’ll feel like you’re climbing Everest. Other days, it’ll feel like trying to walk across a floor covered in soap while juggling groceries. Both matter. Both count. Both are proof that you’re trying.
And yes, there will be days when you want to throw in the towel, when nothing seems to move, and you feel stuck. Those days are normal. They’re part of the process. Keep going, even just a little, and eventually, you’ll look back and realize: the steps you thought were meaningless were actually building the foundation for real change.
So stop waiting. Stop hoping motivation will knock politely on your door. Be the reason it happens. Start small. Start messy. Start unsure. Just start. And keep going, one tiny step at a time.
By the end of the year, when you look back, you might realize something incredible: the life you’ve been imagining didn’t happen because the universe decided to hand it to you. It happened because you finally decided it would. And honestly? That’s the kind of quiet, unstoppable magic that makes all the messy bits worth it.
Now here’s a little challenge: pick that one goal, the one you’ve been thinking about forever. Write it down. Say it out loud. Tell your dog, your plant, or even your coffee mug — just make it real. And , exactly one year from now, we’ll check back. Let’s see how far you’ve come, how many small steps added up, and how many “I can’t” moments you quietly proved wrong. Please feel free to write me an email about it . I would love to know more about your one goal.
So go on — take that first step. You’ve got this. Wishing you a Happy New Year, full of tiny wins, unexpected laughs, and just enough chaos to keep life interesting. May your coffee be strong, your Wi-Fi reliable, and your Mondays slightly less soul-crushing. Here’s to a year of action, growth, and a few delightful surprises along the way. Cheers!!!
